Join the live, write your questions in the comments, and I will do my best to answer as many as possible and share my experience from years of working with bees, rescuing colonies, mentoring new beekeepers, and educating people across Mauritius.

During this live, I will also be sharing a very important message about responsible bee rescue and beekeeping in Mauritius.

We have many passionate and dedicated beekeepers on our island, but we must also be aware that some people present themselves as beekeepers without having the necessary experience or knowledge.

Bee removal is not just about taking a box and moving bees. It requires understanding the colony, knowing how to safely handle bees, recognising the queen, drones, virgin queens, and understanding bee behaviour.

Yes, we all learn through experience, and every beekeeper continues learning every day. But one thing is clear:

🐝 We must never allow our learning process to put people's lives at risk.

This is why mentoring, training, and sharing knowledge are so important. A responsible beekeeper knows their limits, asks for help when needed, and always puts safety first.

Even someone with 50 years of beekeeping experience will tell you the same thing — the honeybee is still the greatest teacher. We learn from them every single day.

THIS ENDS TONIGHT. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Like I said yesterday if we continue like this the island can't be saved and now we sinking.....

Today, after visiting my apiary, I received a call saying there was a swarm of bees and that it was a real emergency. I was told they didn't know what to do and needed help immediately.

Without hesitation, I alerted my emergency bee rescue team. We responded straight away with our emergency lights and sirens because every minute counts when you're trying to save a living colony. And trying to keep people safe.

While we were on our way, a police unit saw our emergency response, asked what was happening, and, after hearing we were rushing to rescue a colony of bees, they escorted us through traffic so we could get there as quickly as possible. For that, I sincerely thank the officers for their support and understanding of how important pollinators are.

But when we arrived...

The bees had already been set on fire.

Think about that for a moment.

An entire emergency response was launched to save a colony that had already been burned alive.

These are the same bees that pollinate our crops, our fruit trees, our flowers, and help keep our environment alive. They are part of what keeps us alive. Without pollinators, our food production and ecosystems suffer.

This cannot continue.

If you find bees, CALL A BEEKEEPER FIRST. Don't burn them. Don't poison them. Don't destroy their home and then ask us to save what's left.

From tonight onwards, I will no longer respond to situations where people have already destroyed the bees before calling for help.

Enough is enough. This ends tonight.....

I'm seriously questioning whether I want to continue doing bee removals anymore.

Time and time again, people destroy the hive, cut out all the honeycomb, kill or scatter the bees, and only then call me asking if I'm interested in taking what's left.

That's not a bee rescue. By then, the damage has already been done.

Please, if you find a beehive, call a beekeeper first. Don't destroy the colony and expect it to be rescued afterward.

After everything I've seen, it's becoming harder to keep doing this work. I dedicate my life to protecting bees, and seeing healthy colonies destroyed before I even get a chance to help is heartbreaking.

Save the bees call before you cut. 🐝

Today I carried out another successful bee rescue from a container. 🐝

One thing that stood out was that many of the returning bees were carrying bright yellow pollen on their legs. That's always a wonderful sight because it usually means the colony is healthy, has a queen, and is actively raising the next generation of bees.

Every rescue is more than just removing bees from an unwanted location—it's about protecting one of nature's most important pollinators. Instead of destroying a colony, we give it a second chance in a safe home where it can continue pollinating our crops, flowers, and forests.

Thank you to everyone who chooses rescue over extermination. Together, we can protect Mauritius' bees, one colony at a time. 🐝💛
