Easter – A Story of Hope and New Life

This Sunday, many members of the Christian community in Mauritius will celebrate Easter, one of the most important days in the Christian calendar.

Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a moment that symbolizes the triumph of life over death, light over darkness, and hope over despair.

After the quiet reflection of Good Friday, Easter Sunday becomes a celebration of renewal and new beginnings.

Across Mauritius, families gather, meals are shared, and churches ring with the message that even after the hardest moments in life, new life is always possible.

And that message speaks far beyond religion.

Wherever you come from and whatever you believe, Easter invites us to reflect on a simple question:

What in my life is ready to begin again?

A relationship that needs healing.
A dream that was set aside.
A part of ourselves that deserves another chance.

Just like the seasons change and the earth renews itself, life also gives us moments to start fresh.

In Mauritius, our traditions remind us that hope grows stronger when it is shared.

And around every table, food has a special way of bringing people together in that spirit.

Happy Easter to everyone celebrating. 🇲🇺

Today, the Muslim community in Mauritius celebrates Eid al Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Throughout this month, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. Beyond abstaining from food, Ramadan is a time for discipline, reflection, generosity, and compassion.

Eid is therefore a celebration of renewal and sharing. Families gather, meals are shared, and special care is given to those in need so that everyone can celebrate with dignity.

Today is also a gentle reminder of a simple question. What is one thing in my life I can share more generously with others?

It might be food.
It might be time.
It might be kindness.

In Mauritius, our strength has always come from sharing across cultures and communities.

Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating 🌙

Today, many in the Telugu community in Mauritius celebrate Ugadi, their traditional New Year, a festival of renewal, hope, and new beginnings ✨

Ugadi comes from Sanskrit. Yuga means age and Adi means beginning. It marks the start of a new chapter.

A beautiful tradition is Ugadi Pachadi, a dish made with six tastes. Sweet, bitter, sour, spicy, salty, and tangy. Each flavour reflects what the year may bring, including joy, challenges, surprises, courage, connection, and discovery.

Its message is simple and powerful. Life is made of many flavours, and growth comes from embracing them all 💛

In multicultural Mauritius, this festival reflects values we all share. Family, gratitude, resilience, and togetherness 🇲🇺

May the new year bring peace, prosperity, good health, and fresh beginnings to every home.

Happy Ugadi to all celebrating 🌼
