Living alone during Ramazan means; no one hovering around the stove saying “adhives thi kakkaa ehche kakkaa nunimey?”

But the real struggle?
Cooking Kulhi Mas while fasting, and the whole house filled with the fragrant aroma of the specific spices & condiments…
and you still have hours until Maghrib!
That’s the real test of sabr!

But then, ofcourse ~ one thing about Maldivian kitchens is universal: Kulhi Mas is never meant to stay in one house… ツ

So it definitely got shared with the neighbours… because simple island rules 💁🏻‍♀️ If Kulhi Mas is made, the neighbourhood deserves to know!

Some people are like dumplings 🥟
Soft on the outside, carefully folded, nothing loud about them.
You might think they’re simple…
until you sit with them long enough to know better...

They hold a lot, you see…
Stories. Grief. Hope. A surprising amount of warmth...
Not everyone gets access to the filling…
and that’s not arrogance, that’s wisdom.

Poke too hard and they fall apart.
Rush the process and they’re not ready.
But handled gently, with patience and the right amount of heat, they nourish in ways loud things never do…

I’ve learned this:
Allah doesn’t rush what’s meant to sustain you…
Some hearts are folded slowly, sealed with intention, and revealed only when the time is right…

Also… the quiet ones?
They’re usually the most satisfying… ✨
