Experience makes the teacher become a master, our Cassava and Sunflower commercial mixed farming project did not go as planned. This project was running on minimal resources hence the results we have attained.

we now understand the S.W.O.Ts that will help us do better next time.

Commercial Farming Project
we took our 1st dive into commercial farming with the focus on Cassava and Sunflower, mixed cropping. This project was operating on minimal resources hence the poor results, despite the results this is not a Loss it's a Lesson. we have learnt our strengths and weaknesses including the opportunities and threats ahead.
next time we will be prepared.

Discovered water coming from the ground during a farm supervision and planting supervision of sunflower on the 31 December 2025.
The only thing standing in our way to have an irrigation system is resources. The water table just showed us that it's ready.

At Gwaza Farms, we are exploring practical solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing smallholder farmers in Malawi today. Declining soil fertility, rising fertilizer costs, and unpredictable rainfall are making farming more difficult for many rural households. Our work focuses on developing farming approaches that are affordable, climate-adaptive, and accessible to smallholder communities and farmers.

Through our electroculture farming pilot, Gwaza Farms is testing an energetic agroecological method that uses simple electroculture rods (wooden or plastic sticks/poles wound with copper wire) that are inserted into the soil on farming plots with crops. The Rods harness natural atmospheric energy from the atmosphere and transfers it into the soil.

The goal is to strengthen soil performance, improve plant growth potential, and reduce dependence on expensive agricultural inputs. Our early field experiment with maize and tomatoes has allowed us to test the system under real farming conditions and begin learning how it can work in smallholder environments.

Looking ahead, Gwaza Farms aims to expand this work through community demonstration plots that involve women farmers and youth as active participants in installation, monitoring, and shared learning. By building local capacity and testing scalable farming innovations, we hope to contribute to stronger food security, climate resilience, and sustainable agriculture for rural communities in Malawi.
