Chief Executive for the Fortress Business and Logistics Consultant Karl Chokotho has called on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to pitch bankable business ideas that have potential to attract funding for boosting their businesses.

Chokotho said this in Mchinji, where he is facilitating a Business Plan Competition Boot Camp for MSMEs under the World Bank funded Southern African Trade and Connectivity Project (SATCP). Among others, the project seeks to improve market access and create jobs within the Nacala Corridor.

He said the firm is building the capacity of the applicants to refine their business plans to convince partners, noting that many ideas are missing out on funding opportunities.

Meanwhile, Managing Director for Mchinji-based Farm Seed and Agri-Foods Wantwa Mwahimba says the training is timely as many businesses are failing to start and succeed due to a lack of funding emanating from unattractive business pitch.

Similar trainings are also happening in Lilongwe and Blantyre, where 100 out of the 300 enterprises will be awarded grants ranging from US$ 18,000 to US$ 25,000 based on business potential and their alignment with SATCP objectives.
