Agave Spirits & The Sustainability Efforts x Reforestation & Minimizing The Ecological Impacts 🌱🖐🏼🌱

A big thank you to who gave us some great insight of the socio económico impact of agave spirits & the reforestation & equality of this sacred plant.

Agave are plants with succulent leaves arranged in a spiral short stem originally from the Mesoamérica region of 🇲🇽 in which there are over 200 species of this plant that are native to the region. These plants have been used to produce agave spirits, the raw materials must be harvested before flowering otherwise the sugars in the core will go to the nectar and the plant is no longer good for producing tequila x mezcal.

It’s important to recognize that these amazing plants owe their existence to bats! 🦇🦇🦇

To understand the issues of the agave industry and understand as consumers to look for brands that are sustainable spirits that are - which ensures x promotes healthy crops x benefits the production of agave spirits. 🌵

It’s the little things we do in life that have a BIG impact 🍃

Our first series of workshops we just launched!!

Of course the first series had to be focused on the heart of Wòolis, and our composting project!

Once a month ❤️🍃🌎sharing local knowledge that will help not only understand and appreciate how we are living on this planet but how we can give back to it. 🌎

Nature operates according to a system of nutrients and metabolisms in which there is no such thing as waste. 🌱🌱🌱

However, mountains of waste rising in unmanaged landfills are a growing concern but the quantity of these wastes, and the space the take up is not the major problem….

The major concern are the nutrients x valuable “food” not both industry and nature, that are contaminated, wasted or lost.

Here in Tulum we are living amongst the biggest underground river system in the world, if we do not compost our food waste it not only emits methane into the air, but it leaks a toxic leachate into one of the most unique water systems in the world.
