🌿 Setia Marina Herb Garden @ SM1 – Groundbreaking Ceremony

On 15 August 2026, we broke ground for the Setia Marina Herb Garden @ SM1 — an initiative proudly started by our SM1 resident volunteers.

Designed in the shape of a black-eyed pea, the garden symbolises growth, nourishment and community spirit.

Perbadanan Pengurusan Setia Marina is pleased to facilitate the design and construction, while our SM1 resident volunteers will lead the selection, planting and ongoing maintenance of the herbs.

A wonderful example of community initiative, gotong-royong and sustainability.

From residents, for residents — let’s grow together!

Seeing tiny seedlings turn into thriving plants, picking herbs right before dinner, watching tomatoes ripen on the vine instead of a grocery store shelf—it’s the kind of thing that makes gardening feel magical. How did SMEG get started? Here's a video reel on our journey to build an edible garden in Setia Marina..July 2025

We are very honored to host a surprise visit from Tun M at SMEG on Saturday 20 December.

The visit was hosted by our Farm Manager / Chairman of Management Committee - Ang Ewe Jin. Below are excerpts of explanation by Mr Ang during the farm tour :

"Setia Marina Edible Garden (SMEG) is a sustainability intiative, volunteer-run community urban farm. We grow vege and fruits, offer to residents where all sale proceeds are paid into our Perbadanan Pengurusan Setia Marina bank account. Sales collections are based on cashless, honor system where residents pay via QR pay according to what they have purchased"

"Our farm mainly comprised of raised bed planter boxes, automatic irrigation system and water sourced from a man-made lake about 150m away."

"At SMEG, we mainly grow leafy greens, fruity vegetables, root vegetables and fruit trees."

"These Fig trees were procured from Prof Chew of USM who tissue cultured from a US variety called Texas Everbearing. The trees were planted in July and fruited barely half year later."

The farm tour covered zone B metal raised beds and zone C fruit trees.
