“Mummy say I must study hard. Mummy go work then she come again next time when she no work,” says Tian Tian.
And then there’s Nicole, who frowns at the words “papa” and “mama.”
Sometimes it’s hard to believe that at just 7 years old, they’ve already experienced so much - even from before they were born. And because of that, they each see “mummy” and “daddy” so differently.
When we first met them in October 2023, they were just playing, watching TV, taking naps… 💤 being kids in the simplest way.
Now, things look a little different.
They sleep on their own with the older girls, tidy their beds, pack their school bags - and sometimes, they even ask for math questions to do.
In this short clip, you’ll see them working through simple math (with their usual playful moments in between). ✏️ We sat together and did more than 50 questions each.
It’s been a quiet kind of progress, but a real one and maybe that’s what matters most 💪🏼 - that in the midst of everything they’ve been through, they are still learning, still growing, and slowly, gently, finding their way forward.
We’re also so grateful for the friends and people who have supported us in this journey - your kindness has made it possible for us to keep showing up for these children. Thank you for being part of something that truly matters. ❤️
