Our Take on Vegan/Vegetarian Glutinous Rice or Millet Dumplings (Packed with Nuts & Beans)
There’s something deeply satisfying about unwrapping a warm rice dumpling. The smell hits first—earthy, slightly nutty, comforting in a way that feels both nostalgic and brand new. But here’s the thing: our version isn’t traditional. It’s our own little experiment that turned into something we now crave way too often.
Instead of sticking to just one filling, we went all in. We wanted texture, variety, and something that actually feels hearty without relying on meat. So we ended up building our dumplings around five humble but powerful ingredients: cashew nuts, lotus seeds, black beans, red kidney beans, and mung beans.
Yes, five. It might sound like a lot, but trust us —it works.
Why we Went with Nuts and Beans together with either the Glutinous Rice or Millet,
we didn’t set out to make a “healthy” dumpling. We just wanted something more interesting than the usual fillings. But what we got was a combination that’s surprisingly balanced and wholesome .
The cashew nuts bring that soft crunch and richness
Lotus seeds add a subtle, almost creamy bite
Black beans give depth
Red kidney beans make it feel hearty
Mung beans tie everything together with a mild, earthy flavor
Every bite is a little different, and that’s honestly our favorite part.
