'I had RM40k in my bank account, why pay interest to the bank?'

That sounds smart, but it's actually a middle-class trap. You are draining your liquidity to buy a depreciating asset.

Here is how I planned my RM40k car purchase (and you should too):

The "Cash" Mistake
If I pay RM40k upfront, the car is mine, but my bank balance becomes ZERO.
After 5 years? That car is worth barely RM25k. I lost my money AND my liquidity.

The Smart "Debt" Move
Instead, I used the "Arbitrage Rule":

Down Payment: Paid only RM10k
Loan: Took RM30k (2.8% p.a)

The Secret: I invested the remaining RM30k (which I didn't spend).

The Magic of 5 Years
While I was driving the car, my money was silently growing.
Loan Cost: RM34,200
Investment Growth: RM30,000 → RM50,550 (11% return)

The Result?
After paying off the entire loan, I still made a profit!

Basically, the market paid for a chunk of my car.

Lesson: Don't work for money. Make your money work for your loan.
