This snack grew in popularity during the eighties. In the early nineties, the company made additions to their name with the inclusion of "octopus" prior to the introduction of this snack in Taiwan. After a long period of research and improvement on quality, image and package design, they developed a solid foundation and good reputation in Taiwan. They currently operate 210 stores in Taiwan. ust 1999 the company expanded to Hong Kong to create a new niche in the food market, and enjoyed immense popularity with long queues of customers at their branches regularly. In March 2001 in an official visit mainland China saw more than 100 branches opening up in Zhuhai, Shenzhen, Xian, Guilin, Macau, Chengdu, Beijing, Tianjin, Zhengzhou, Nanning, Urumqi, Shenyang, Jinan, Taiyuan, Harbin and Lanzhou. This was followed by franchise openings in Canada and the United States in 2003. was established in 2008 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
