🇳🇦 DEAR NAMIBIAN EMPLOYEES — KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

Workers must be extremely careful when an employer wants to change their terms and conditions of employment. Do not simply sign a new contract, agreement, or document because management puts it in front of you.

✋ Read before you sign. Ask questions. Seek advice. Know what you are giving up.

An employer cannot simply treat workers’ rights and working conditions as something that can be changed whenever they choose. Where proposed changes negatively affect employees, workers have the right to question, challenge and seek proper advice before accepting them.

⚠️ SANITECH MUST TAKE NOTE: NAMIBIAN EMPLOYEES ARE NOT TOYS.

Workers are human beings with rights, dignity and livelihoods to protect. You cannot play with people's salaries, working conditions and future and expect them to remain silent.

Workers must stand together. Know your rights. Know your contract. Don't sign away your rights without understanding the consequences.

✊🏾🇳🇦 AN INFORMED WORKER IS A POWERFUL WORKER!

Workers have a constitutional right to freely choose the trade union they want to join. No politician, employer, or any other individual should pressure or influence employees to join a specific union, especially if that union does not represent their industry.

It is disappointing to see a Member of Parliament encouraging workers to join a particular union while knowing it is not the appropriate union for that sector. Such actions only create division among workers instead of promoting unity and respect for their rights.

Rani Trades employees have the right to decide for themselves which union will represent their interests. That choice belongs to the workers alone and must be respected.

Let's protect workers' freedom of association and keep politics out of workplace representation.

📢 The Right to Strike Is a Fundamental Workers' Right

The International Court of Justice (ICJ), in its Advisory Opinion requested by the International Labour Organization (ILO), has reaffirmed the importance of the right to strike under ILO Convention No. 87.

This is more than a legal discussion—it's a reminder that workers must have the freedom to organize and, when all other avenues have failed, to take collective action in defence of their rights and dignity.

A strike is not a privilege. It is a legitimate tool for workers to seek fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect in the workplace.

As trade unionists, we must continue to promote dialogue and negotiation first, but we must also defend the fundamental rights that protect working people around the world.

An injury to one is an injury to all. United we stand, divided we fall.
