Yes, I have Mellania trees on the boundaries of the farm. I can't believe it, they are eight years old already!
A big shout out to my colleagues planting trees for wood, Carpentry and furniture uses!
I personally want to thank you on behalf of all Nigerian home-owners and builders.
Thank You. . . . ❤️
Currently, there are an average of 8m babies born in Nigeria a year, these babies will be 25 years old old in 25 years time and they will need homes, roofs, wooden bed frames, doors, chairs, tables, wooden spoons etc.
With this, we need to plant trees for timber.
Presently in Nigeria we plant malania which takes 10 years to mature, teak, mahogany, Eucalyptus and acacia among others which take about 25 years to mature.
The economics is interesting. Each tree can produce a minimum of 30 pieces of sliced wood (2' x 3', 2' x 4', or 2' x 2') which sell for an average of ₦1,500 per piece. ( Year 2025 prices).
