Once upon a time, a wealthy businessman decided to take his young son on a trip to the countryside to show him how poor people lived.
They spent several days on a farm owned by a family with modest means. The father hoped this experience would help his son appreciate the family's wealth.
After returning home, the father asked his son, 'Did you see how poor people live? What did you learn from this trip?'
The son replied, 'Yes, Dad. I learned a lot. We have one dog; they have three. We have a swimming pool that reaches to the middle of our garden; they have a river that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden; they have stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard; they have the whole horizon.'
The son continued, 'We have a small piece of land to live on; they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us; they serve others. We buy our food; they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us; they have friends to protect them. We spend our free time with television and mobiles; they spend their free time with family and relatives.'
The son concluded, 'Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are!'
The father was left speechless, realizing that true wealth is not measured by material possessions but by the richness of life experiences and relationships.
