WHEN DOING THE RIGHT THING
ISN'T CONVENIENT
Some of the work we do will never make people know us
No one may ever know about the hard decisions you made for others
They may not see the person you quietly helped. Sometimes they may even realize you stood your ground when it would've been so much easier to stay silent, to look away, to let someone else deal with it.
That's the strange thing about real courage and leadership — it rarely announces itself. It doesn't wait for public opinions ,camera or an audience. It just shows up, does what needs to be done, and moves on without asking for credit.
Dora Akunyili's story reminds us that leadership isn't always about what you gain.
Most times is about who becomes safer, stronger, or better off simply because you chose to act and chose not be silent — because you refused to look the other way when it mattered most.
Dora wasn't chasing recognition. She was solving a real problem that others had learned to live with and accept , even when it put her own safety at risk.
Somewhere, someone will sleep a little easier, breathe a little freer, become healthier or find a little more strength — because you did the thing you didn't have to do.
As i conclude Ask yourself,
Who could benefit if I stopped waiting for someone else to step up?
Who could be dying silently and struggling with depression because am choosing not to act?
What is the one thing within my reach that I keep putting off, hoping someone braver will handle it?
Maybe that's where meaningful leadership really starts. Not in a boardroom. Not on a stage. Not in a title or a headline.
Just in the quiet decision to take responsibility for what is right in front of you — even when no one is watching or applauding or even when no one will ever know.
Start Not with a title. Not with applause. Just with courage, exercised in silence, again and again, until it becomes who you are.
