🦠🐔 EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FOWL POX 🐔🦠

Fowl Pox is a viral disease in chickens that spreads slowly but can seriously affect the health and performance of your birds if not managed properly.

It is mainly spread through mosquitoes, direct contact, and contaminated equipment.

⚠️ TYPES OF FOWL POX:
1️⃣ Dry (Skin) Pox
2️⃣ Wet (Diphtheritic) Pox

🐥 DRY POX SIGNS:
• Small bumps or scabs on comb, face, and wattles
• Reduced feed intake
• Slow growth
• Weak appearance

💧 WET POX SIGNS:
• Lesions inside mouth and throat
• Difficulty breathing
• Poor appetite
• Can lead to higher mortality than dry pox

📉 EFFECTS ON FARM:
• Slow growth rate
• Reduced production
• Weak immune system
• Financial losses if not controlled

💊 TREATMENT:
There is NO direct cure for the virus once it enters, but farmers manage it by:
• Preventing secondary infections with vet-approved medications
• Giving vitamins (especially Vitamin A)
• Keeping birds in a clean, stress-free environment

🛡️ PREVENTION:
✔ Vaccination is key
✔ Control mosquitoes in the farm
✔ Keep housing clean and dry
✔ Avoid mixing infected birds with healthy ones
✔ Disinfect equipment regularly

🦠🐔 LET’S TALK ABOUT AVIAN INFLUENZA (BIRD FLU) 🐔🦠

Avian Influenza, commonly known as Bird Flu, is one of the most feared diseases in poultry farming. It is caused by a virus and can spread rapidly through a flock.

⚠️ Common Signs:
❌ Sudden death
❌ Swollen head, face, or comb
❌ Difficulty breathing
❌ Coughing and sneezing
❌ Reduced feed and water intake
❌ Weakness and depression
❌ Drop in egg production (in layers)

📉 Disadvantages:
• Very high mortality
• Rapid spread within a flock
• Severe financial losses
• Trade and movement restrictions
• Can affect entire poultry operations

✅ What Farmers Should Know:
• Early reporting is critical
• Strict biosecurity is essential
• Limit visitors to the farm
• Disinfect equipment regularly
• Prevent contact with wild birds
• Isolate suspicious cases immediately

🛡️ Prevention is the strongest defense against Bird Flu.

💬 Farmers, what biosecurity measure do you consider most important on your farm? 👇

🦠🐔 LET’S TALK ABOUT FOWL TYPHOID 🐔🦠

Fowl Typhoid is a serious bacterial disease caused by Salmonella Gallinarum. It can affect birds of all ages and, if not detected early, can lead to heavy losses on the farm.

⚠️ Common Signs of Fowl Typhoid:
❌ Loss of appetite
❌ Weakness and depression
❌ Droopy wings
❌ Ruffled feathers
❌ Yellow or greenish diarrhea
❌ Reduced growth rate
❌ Sudden mortality in severe cases

📉 Disadvantages of Fowl Typhoid:
• Increased mortality
• Poor weight gain
• Reduced feed conversion
• Higher treatment costs
• Reduced farm profitability
• Can spread quickly through contaminated feed, water, equipment, or infected birds

✅ Why Early Detection Matters:
• Reduces losses
• Improves recovery chances
• Limits spread to other birds
• Helps maintain flock performance

💊 Can It Be Treated?
Because it is a bacterial disease, treatment is typically based on antibiotics selected by a qualified veterinarian. Different farms may require different medications depending on local regulations, resistance patterns, and the condition of the flock.

⚠️ Never use antibiotics blindly. Incorrect use can lead to treatment failure and antibiotic resistance.

🛡️ Prevention Is Better Than Cure:
✅ Buy chicks from reputable sources
✅ Maintain strict biosecurity
✅ Keep feeders and drinkers clean
✅ Provide clean water at all times
✅ Isolate sick birds immediately
✅ Regularly disinfect the poultry house
✅ Avoid overcrowding

Remember, a clean farm is the first line of defense against many poultry diseases ❤️🐔🔥

Some farmers will say the brooding stage 🔥

Others will say disease outbreaks 🦠

Some will say feed management 🍽️

While others believe the biggest risk is finding buyers at the end 📈😅

The truth is, one mistake at the wrong stage can affect your entire flock.
