Before school resumes, make sure your child knows how to do THESE things.

1. How to pack and unpack their school bag and lunch bag
Teach your child where to put their books, lunch bag, water bottle and other things.
They should also learn to unpack their bag when they get home.

2. How to identify their belongings
Teach them to recognise their school bag, lunch bag, water bottle, shoes, and other personal items. Better still write their names on their lunch bag, school bags and other important items

3. How to take care of their school things
Books are not for tearing, pencils are not for throwing, and school bags should not be dragged on the floor.

4. How to say “Please” and “Thank you"
Simple manners can make a big difference.
Teach them to ask politely and appreciate people who help them.

5. How to ask an adult for help
Teach them to confidently say:
“Please, I need help.”
“I don't understand.”
“I don't feel well.”

6. How to clean up after themselves
Teach them to pick up what they drop and put things back where they belong.

7. How to wait for their turn
They won't always be first. Teach them to wait patiently and allow others to have their turn.

8. How to speak up when something is wrong
Teach your child that they can always tell their class teacher or a trusted adult when they are hurt, scared, lost, bullied or uncomfortable.
