Pearl millet is a nutritious cereal crop that originated from Africa. It is rich in energy, dietary fiber, zinc, iron, and antioxidants. Also, it is particularly useful as a weaning food for infants and as a galactagogue for lactating mothers.
Pearl millet has the following health benefits:
i. Promotes heart health: Pearl millet has a high magnesium and potassium content, making it an ideal food for people with high blood pressure.
ii. Manages diabetes: The millet had a low glycemic index of 55 when compared with sorghum, finger millet, and mung bean – Low glycemic index foods cause your blood sugar to rise gradually, not quickly, after eating them.
iii. Prevents cancer: Pearl millet is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants.
iv. Prevents anaemia: Pearl millet contains high amounts of iron and zinc which may help increase the production of hemoglobin in the blood.

Corn is rich in vitamin C, an antioxidant that helps protect your cells from damage and wards off diseases like cancer and heart disease. Yellow corn is a good source of the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, which are good for eye health and help prevent the lens damage that leads to cataracts. Corn also has smaller amounts of vitamins B, E, and K, along with minerals like magnesium and potassium
