In the next ten years, more people will relocate to the rural areas from urban cities due to economic downtown. Even as more people migrate from the rural areas to urban cities, the same drift will happen to those who can no longer cope with life in the cities.

It's a trend. It won't end. Infact there are more urban-rural drift today compared to the last 20 years. For those who drift back home without a knowledge of farming, it's more of a challenge. It's difficult to fit into such environment.

Agriculture should be made compulsory in schools irrespective of your class. Agriculture is the life wire that sustains human existence. We should not only teach theory but more of practical in class.

A lot of school farmlands are lying fallow. Some are hired out to women in the community to farm, when we have Agricultural Science students in school. Agriculture Science Shou not end in the classroom, the students have to go to the field. Teach them soil selection , soil test and analysis, soil preparation, how to make ridges, how to plant seeds, weeding, pest control, crop rotation, animal husbandry and harvest.

Trust me, the next richest people in the world in the next 10 years would be farmers. If you understand the cycle, you will catch the vision.

FARM PROFITABILITY IS ONLY DEPENDENT ON PIGLETS/WEANER(S) PRODUCTION.

My fellow farmers, PIGLETS ARE THE ONLY WAY TO PROFITABILITY IN THE FARM. They are the most important animals produced in the farm.
I have seen many farmers with a lot of piglets at the farm with no plan.

IMPORTANT MUST KNOW FACTS
1. The profitability of the farm depends directly on Quality piglet production and well planned management system.

2. Failure of the farm to properly produce quality piglets that can grow fast on fair feeds and properly manage their first 12 weeks of life directly leads to losses at worst closure.

As A piggery farmer, you must endeavor to do the following with your piglets.

1. Have a plan while breeding, are you selling piglets/ weaners or fattening for pork?
2. How many piglets can you properly handle and manage effectively?

3. Where is your market for piglets (6 weeks old), How will you reach your market?

4. Are the piglets/weaners the right quality to be shared with other farmers for breeding/fattening?

AS LONG AS YOUR PIGLETS ARE OF EXCELLENT GENETICS AND HAVE BEEN RAISED WELL,THEY WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE MARKET?

Common Parasites In Pigs And How To Control Them.
4. LUNGWORMS (Metastrongylus spp.)

Symptoms:

Persistent coughing
Difficulty breathing

Control Measures:

Deworm pigs with anthelmintics effective against lungworms.

2. Compost the Manure: Composting chicken manure is an effective way to further break down the manure, reduce pathogens, and create a more stable fertilizer. To compost chicken manure, mix it with carbon-rich materials like straw or leaves, keep the pile moist, and turn it regularly to aerate.
