Diary of a Chicken Seller: How Religion Has Been Weaponized by Those in Power

There is something deeply troubling happening across the world, and most people are too distracted to notice it. Religion one of humanity's most personal and sacred experiences has been quietly converted into the most powerful weapon in a leader's arsenal. It is holy enough to appear innocent, cheap enough to require no budget, and effective enough to gather thousands without anyone suspecting a political agenda. What begins as a peaceful gathering can slowly morph into a mobilized force ready to overrun a city all in the name of God.

Let me be clear and stand to be corrected: any religion that endorses killing, kidnapping, or the oppression of others promising its followers a reward in paradise is a no-go area for any thinking person. The tragedy is that those who have gone too deep into such systems feel they have no choice but to defend what has already been written. They are not following faith anymore. They are protecting an investment.

This is exactly why I deeply respect the scientific approach to knowledge. In science, old theories can be challenged, tested, and disproved. Progress is not only allowed it is celebrated. But in certain religious circles, questioning a doctrine earns you the label of "anti-God." That kind of intellectual imprisonment is dangerous for any society.

Think about it honestly. At the time many religious texts were written, there were no cameras, no printing machines, no s***m donors, no digital communication. Some rulings were made for a specific era and context. Yet today, technologies that would have been called witchcraft in ancient times are now saving lives in hospitals worldwide. Wisdom demands that we evolve.

And what about the promise of 72 virgins in paradise as a reward for killing the innocent? That is not faith that is manipulation dressed in scripture, targeting the vulnerable and the desperate.
Social values empathy, justice, fairness, and human dignity will always outlast any religion weaponized for political gain.

Diary of a Chicken Seller: From Bitter Experience Comes the Greater Awakening

We pray every day that bad things should never find us. We wake up, we hope, we plan and yet life has a way of rewriting our script without asking for permission. The truth is, the life-changing moments we never planned for are often the very ones that shape us the most.

Look around you. Study the great men and women the world celebrates today. Behind every smile on that stage, behind every award and applause, there is a story a moment where everything seemed to fall apart. A moment of bitterness so deep it felt like the end. But they pushed through. They held on when holding on made no logical sense. And on the other side of that pain, they found the success that now defines them.

I have lived that story personally.

There was a season when the road ahead of me turned into thick brush. No clear path. No obvious direction. No helper in sight. It was in that very moment when I had exhausted every human option that God showed up for me. And since that day, He has been promoting me from one level to the next. Not by magic, not by luck, but by a combination of His grace and deliberate, consistent action on my part.

Because here is a truth I want you to carry with you today: nothing changes until you change. Breakthrough is not just a prayer point it is a decision. It is what happens when you refuse to let your circumstances write the final chapter of your story.

Diary of a Chicken Seller: Riding on People’s Backs to Greatness

One of the hardest things in life is choosing originality in a world that rewards imitation.

I came into this world with a different approach to life and business. And while being different sounds admirable, the truth is that it can also be lonely. When you refuse to ride on people’s backs to greatness, the journey becomes longer, harder, and far less comfortable.

But integrity matters.

I could have followed trends, hidden behind popular narratives, or copied the formula everyone else was using. Instead, I chose honesty — even when it was uncomfortable.

What surprised me was this:
The more transparent and authentic I became, the more real conversations started happening. People stopped pretending. Curiosity replaced hostility. And meaningful connections began to grow.

I have learned that when you carry a new kind of energy, people do not immediately celebrate you. First, they question you. They study you. They resist you.

That is not always rejection.
Sometimes, it is simply recalibration.

To anyone building something different without a mentor, without a shortcut, and without borrowed influence keep going.

Brick by brick, your path will eventually speak for itself.

Think Big Because Your Imagination Is the Blueprint

There is a book called Think Big. I first saw it as a teenager sitting on the shelf of someone I deeply respected, a woman who was both family and mentor to me. The book was thick, almost intimidatingly so. I picked it up with the best of intentions, but I will be honest with you: I never made it past Chapter One.

Yet here I am, years later, living proof that the title alone planted a seed.

That is the power of exposure. You do not always need to finish the book. Sometimes, just encountering the idea is enough.
Think big. Two words. And yet, for so many of us, they carry the weight of a lifetime.
Imagination Is Not Enough But It Is Where Everything Begins

Everyone has the power of imagination. The farmer in the field, the student in the classroom, the trader in the market — every one of us carries within us the ability to picture something greater than our current reality. And here is what I have come to understand: if you can imagine it, it is possible provided you are willing to attach real effort to that image.

I was scrolling through LinkedIn recently something I do regularly to stay connected to global conversations in agriculture when I came across a post from an international organisation that grants development funding to agricultural projects in developing countries. What struck me was this: it was the second time I was seeing that same opportunity appear on my feed.
The first time, I paused. The second time, I stopped completely.

This is a sign, I told myself. Because what they are offering modern technology, structured funding, and capacity-building for farmers is exactly what Nigerian poultry farmers need. Not charity. Not pity. But investment in efficiency.

If you are a farmer, an agripreneur, or someone working in food production, I urge you: join professional platforms and networks that will constantly update you about opportunities in your field.

Opportunities do not always knock on your door. Sometimes, you have to be in the right room when they arrive.

My Hatchery Dream Is Not New It Has Been in the Works
If I own a modern hatchery and farm tomorrow, it will not have happened by accident. That dream has been in planning for a long time. Every day-old chick I sell, every delivery I coordinate, every farmer I connect with it is all part of a bigger picture I have been quietly building toward.

Because that is what thinking big really means. It is not reckless dreaming. It is purposeful, patient, persistent preparation.

Diary of a Chicken Seller: When You Think God Doesn’t Answer Prayers

Have you ever felt like your prayers are hitting a ceiling? In a world obsessed with instant success, everyone wants to be first. We see the glory, but we often ignore the growth cycle. Just as a seed requires a specific amount of nutrients, water, and time to manifest into a plant, your dreams require a "minimum effective dose" of energy and consistency before they break through the soil.

When we fail to put in the necessary time, we often fall into the trap of claiming that God doesn't answer prayers. But let’s be real: it costs the Creator nothing to make everyone a millionaire overnight. However, we live in a world where the "matrix" the systems of nature and society demands a process. If you want the harvest, you must respect the season of planting.

The Science of Believing and Manifesting
The Bible provides a profound psychological and spiritual blueprint: “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” This isn't just ancient poetry; it is about your magnetic field.

When you pray with absolute conviction, you align your internal state with your desired outcome. You aren't just asking for a change; you are becoming the person capable of handling that change. By shifting your mindset from lack to abundance, the universe begins to release opportunities that match your frequency.

Prayer Without Action is a Stationary Engine
Prayer provides the spark, but positive action is the fuel. Many people wait on "hope," but hope is not a business strategy. To see a project to completion, you must start exactly where you are.

As you move, a beautiful thing happens: community. People of like mind are drawn to your journey. In the poultry business, and indeed in any industry, the larger and more supportive your community, the faster you scale. Success is a team sport, and action is the whistle that starts the game.

Diary of a Chicken Seller: When Men Lose Their Power

If I say men’s lives matter, I do not say it lightly. It is not an exaggerated statement. It is a reality many men are quietly living through every single day.

Recently, during the 45th anniversary celebration of our church, my wife pointed out a scene that said more than words ever could. Across the room sat a couple, and from the way the woman spoke, moved, and carried herself around her husband, it was painfully obvious who held the power in that marriage. She did not need to raise her voice. Her body language said enough. And if such control can be displayed so boldly in public, one can only imagine what happens behind closed doors.

This is one of the silent struggles many men face today.

A man can begin to lose his voice, his confidence, and his authority the moment he loses the things society has taught him define his worth.

How does a man lose his power?

First, through financial weakness.
The moment a man can no longer provide, especially in a society where his value is often tied to his income, respect begins to fade. If his wife earns more, holds a stronger position, or controls the household financially, many men slowly become strangers in their own homes. Without wisdom and mutual respect, small disagreements can quickly become tools of humiliation.

Second, through physical weakness.
A man battling illness, disability, or physical limitation often faces more than pain. He faces pity, neglect, and in many cases, disrespect. Society is kinder to broken women than broken men.

Third, through emotional silence.
Many men are suffering, but they have been conditioned to suffer quietly. They are told to be strong, to endure, to provide, and to never complain. So they smile in public and bleed in private.

Fourth, through loss of purpose.
When a man no longer feels useful, needed, or respected, something begins to die inside him. A man without purpose is alive, but only in body.

This is not an attack on women. It is a call for balance. A healthy home is not built on domination. It is built on mutual respect, understanding, and partnership. Marriage should never become a battlefield where one partner must shrink for the other to feel powerful.

Strong men do not need worship.
They need respect.
And many men today are starving for it in silence.

Diary of a Chicken Seller: The Rain Is Finally Here What Every Poultry Farmer Must Know

The rain is finally here.
There is something about the first rains of the season that lifts the spirit the smell of wet earth, the coolness in the air, the sense that the land is being renewed. For crop farmers, this is the moment they have been waiting for. Seeds go into the ground, prayers go up to the sky, and the planting season begins in earnest. It is genuinely a season of hope and great joy.

But if you are a poultry farmer, joy must come with wisdom. Because while the rains bring relief, they also bring risk.
Here is what most people overlook chickens are highly sensitive creatures. Temperature changes, whether from excessive heat or cold and damp conditions, directly affect their health, their feed conversion, and ultimately your profit.

Cold and wet weather can trigger respiratory infections, reduce egg production, slow growth rates, and in severe cases, wipe out an entire flock. What might look like a minor environmental shift to the human eye can be a devastating crisis for your birds. This is not something any serious farmer can afford to take lightly.

To understand this better, we need to appreciate the seasonal cycle we live within.

Nigeria broadly experiences two dominant seasons. The dry season, which carries intense heat, typically runs from November through March, with February and March being the most brutal months temperatures can climb well above 35°C in many parts of the country. This is the period when heat stress is the primary enemy of your flock. Then comes the rainy season, which generally spans April through October, bringing relief from the heat but introducing humidity, dampness, and temperature drops especially at night that create a completely different set of challenges for your birds.

And we must not forget the third player harmattan. Usually arriving between November and February, harmattan sweeps in with dry, dusty, cold winds from the Sahara. It dries out mucous membranes, stresses respiratory systems, and affects birds just as much as it affects humans. Three seasons, three different threats. One farm. Your responsibility is to be prepared for all of them.

Inside the poultry pen, ventilation is everything. You need a structure that can breathe during the heat and be sealed against the cold. Most of us build our homes and farms with permanent structures that were designed for one condition alone and then we spend the rest of the year fighting against the weather. It does not have to be this way. As we grow and develop, I want to see more farmers and builders thinking about climate-responsive designs structures that adapt to the season, reduce energy costs, protect animals, and can even generate income on their own. If we can imagine it, we can build it.

Before I go deeper, let me quickly introduce myself. My name is Ogundipe AyoTunde John, popularly known as Japp. I am the Brand Ambassador at iFly2Canada and Operational Manager of Market
