*WHY I AM MAKING THE CASE FOR A FEDERAL MINISTRY OF MEN’S AFFAIRS*
Nigeria currently has a Ministry of Women Affairs, a vital institution that protects and advances the rights of women and girls. This is commendable and necessary. But what about us, men? Where is the Ministry of Men’s Affairs? And why not the Ministry of Gender Affairs?
The complete absence of such an institution continues to deny Nigerian men protection, justice, and welfare. Men, too, are human beings whose dignity, rights, mental health, and wellbeing deserve recognition and state protection.
In recent years, we have seen a disturbing rise in gender weaponization, the misuse of gender-based policies, laws, and narratives to manipulate, intimidate, or destroy men for political, personal, or economic gain. False allegations, malicious accusations, and biased policies have left countless men stigmatized, criminalized, and broken.
*The Unheard Screams: highlighting the hidden war on men’s dignity, rights, and mental health.
*The creation of a Federal Ministry of Men’s Affairs, or
*The merger of the Ministry of Women Affairs into a Federal Ministry of Gender Affairs with two directorates, one for men, one for women.
Such a ministry would:
•Safeguard against gender weaponization.
•Address men’s health, mental health, and welfare.
•Support victims of false allegations and wrongful persecution.
I believe this is a defining moment for justice, equity, and national healing.
So I ask you, why the case for a Ministry of Men’s Affairs? Do you agree it’s time? Share your opinions, comments, or suggestions in the comment section 🙏.
