SUGAR LACE RECIPE:
Cmc -2 tablespoons
Glucose -2 tablespoons
Egg white - 1
Icing sugar - 2 tablespoons
Cornflour - 4 tablespoons
Boiled Water - 1/2 cup
METHOD:
1. Measure out all ingredients and keep them handy.
* Dissolve cmc in boiled water.( You may notice a few lumps, don't worry about that, just dissolve it as much as possible).
* Add cornflour and icing sugar and mix properly.
* Add glucose and egg white. Mix.
2. Apply the paste over a lace mat using a curved spatula. Scrape out all excess paste.
*Oven- dry or sun- dry. (For a beginner, sun-drying is best so you don't get the lace too dried.)
3. When the paste dries to the point that it doesn't stick on the finger when touched, double-coat ( ie apply the sugar veil paste for the second time). Ensure the you scrape the excess paste on the mat neatly. And sun-dry again.
4. Gently detach the lace from the mat. (If it's stuck and isn't coming out, then it's not properly dried. Put under the sun to dry properly. But do not allow it to be too dried.)
5. You can paint with your edible spirit and lustre dust if you wish.
Then apply water on the fondant area where you wish to paste it and paste the lace.
