I made this comment on Roberta Edu post on Facebook where she is calling on Nigerians to make it an habit to read labels and intentionally choose natural products to safeguard the future consequence of their food choices. I read through the post and I smiled before commenting.

"My concern as a natural food manufacturer is that; does these consumers really cares about their health like we the natural food enthusiast cares. I have a foot marketer going from store to supermarket recently to market our NAFDAC Certified Akara chips @ Aqnaim Snacks and the feedback from this people and most consumers is nothing to write home about. They said nobody cares about it being natural or healthy. They want it cheap, they want profit margin.

But I stamp my feet on the ground we are not compromising on the quality and we will still give the offer that we keep us in Business.

There is a lot of Health Education to be done, olohun.

Poverty mentality has ruined average Nigerian sense of reasoning when it comes to buying decisions especially food. Because this same people still care for designer clothing and luxury lifestyle but they want cheap food."

Being someone in the natural food manufacturing industry myself I understand her point perfectly but my recent experiences with marketing of our 100% natural, zero allergy, Akara chips to Nigerians (consumers) I can boldly say Nigerians are not ready for the conversation.
