🍓 How to Make Strawberry Ice Cream (Simple Recipe)

Ingredients

2 cups fresh strawberries (washed & chopped)

½ cup sugar

1 cup heavy cream (or thick whipping cream)

1 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

⭐ Steps

1. Prepare the Strawberries

Put the chopped strawberries in a bowl.

Add ¼ cup sugar and mash them with a fork or blender.

Let it sit for 10–15 minutes so the sugar brings out the juice.

2. Make the Ice Cream Base

In another bowl, mix:

heavy cream

milk

the remaining ¼ cup sugar

vanilla

pinch of salt

Stir until the sugar dissolves.

3. Combine

Add the mashed strawberries (with the juice) into the cream mixture.

Stir everything together.

4. Freeze

If you don’t have an ice cream machine:

Pour into a bowl.

Freeze for 1 hour.

Bring it out and stir with a spoon or whisk to break ice crystals.

Repeat this 3–4 times every hour.

Then leave to freeze solid (4–6 hours).

If you have an ice cream machine, churn for about 20–25 minutes, then freeze for 2 hours.

🍦 HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE VANILLA ICE CREAM

Ingredients (4–6 servings)

2 cups heavy cream (or whipping cream)

1 cup whole milk

½ cup sugar

1–2 teaspoons vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

---

METHOD 1: No-Machine (Plastic Bag or Bowl Method)

1. Mix the base

In a bowl, whisk together:
✔ Heavy cream
✔ Milk
✔ Sugar
✔ Vanilla extract
✔ Salt

Whisk until the sugar dissolves completely.

---

2. Chill the mixture

Place the bowl in the fridge for 30 minutes.
(Cold mixture freezes smoother.)

---

3. Freeze

Choose either of these:

Option A — Ziplock Bag Method

Pour the mixture into a small ziplock bag.

Put ice + ½ cup salt inside a bigger ziplock bag.

Insert the small bag into the big one and shake for 7–10 minutes until thick.

Option B — Freeze + Stir Method

Pour the mixture into a shallow container.

Freeze for 2–3 hours.

Every 30 minutes, bring it out and stir vigorously with a spoon or whisk.
(This breaks ice crystals and keeps it creamy.)

---

4. Serve

Scoop into bowls or cones.
Add toppings like sprinkles, chocolate syrup, nuts, or cookies.

---

Ice cream should not be stored near strong-smelling foods in the freezer because:

1. Ice cream absorbs odors easily

Ice cream contains fat, and fat absorbs smells quickly. Foods like fish, onions, garlic, pepper soup, or suya spice can release strong aromas that seep into ice cream.

2. Freezers circulate air

Cold air moves around inside the freezer. If strong-smelling foods are uncovered or not sealed properly, their odors can travel and settle into nearby foods — including your ice cream.

3. It ruins the flavour

Once ice cream absorbs another food’s smell, it affects the:

taste

aroma

overall quality

You might open your ice cream and instead of vanilla or chocolate, it tastes like pepper soup vanilla or fish chocolate — not pleasant at all.

4. Ice cream is sensitive to contamination

Because of its soft, porous texture, it takes on aromas faster than many other frozen foods.
