Scallions and chives are often mistaken for each other, but they are not the same. Scallions, also called green onions, are young onions with a white base and long green stalks. Both parts can be eaten and are great in soups, stir-fries, and salads. Chives, on the other hand, are a separate herb in the onion family. They have thin, grass-like leaves and a milder flavour, often used as garnish or in egg dishes, dips, and baked potatoes. Both are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, supporting immunity and heart health. Using them adds freshness, flavour, and nutrition to meals.
