SOMETHING EVERY PIG FARM WOULD UNDERSTAND 🐖
There was a time I thought pig farming was just routine…
Feed them, clean the pen, wait for market day.
Simple.
Then one period on the farm humbled me.
Everything looked normal, but the pigs weren’t growing the way they should. No sickness, no clear problem… just slow progress. And that’s the frustrating part every pig farmer knows when nothing is obviously wrong, but something is not right.
I kept going back and forth, checking things, thinking hard.
Then it hit me…
It wasn’t one big mistake.
It was the small things I overlooked.
Little changes. Timing. Consistency. Attention.
And the pigs were already showing it.
That’s one thing I’ve come to respect, especially with Durocs…
They don’t hide your gaps.
If you’re doing things right, you’ll see it in their growth.
If you’re slipping, even slightly, you’ll still see it.
No farm is perfect. Every farmer has had that moment where things don’t go as planned. But those moments teach you more than when everything is smooth.
At Deprime Farm, that experience changed how we work.
Less assumption, more attention. Less rushing, more consistency.
Because in this business, the difference is always in the small details.
Let’s be honest 👇
Have you ever had a time your pigs didn’t perform and you couldn’t explain it at first?
What did you later discover was the real issue?
