This morning alone, I have seen about four different videos of men be@ting their wives. Four.

And those are only the ones somebody had the chance to film. While you are reading this, there are women collecting it in silence tonight women whose own video will never surface, whose own cry nobody will ever hear.

The one that broke me was the young girl getting panel be@ting from her husband, and still begging the police, *please don't arrest him.* Begging for the man destroying her.

I probed. She is eighteen.

Eighteen.

What is an eighteen-year-old doing inside marriage? What does a child that age know about marriage? She should be worrying about her future.

And I know some of you are already typing "why is she begging for him," "she likes the suffering," "she's f00lish." Stop. That girl is not foolish.
That girl is traumatized.
When you isolate a person, keep her broke, and convince her the be@ting is her own fault, her mind starts protecting the very man k!lling her. That is not love. And it’s not marriage you don’t hit a woman and call her wife.

You can bash that girl all you want. But look at the video again. That is not a wife. That is a child who needs help. Her face screams *save me.*

So my anger is not for her. My anger is for the parents who handed a child over at her most vulnerable, and for the grown men 38, 40, sometimes older who go after girls that young on purpose.
Not because they want a wife. Because they want someone too small to f!ght back, too dependent to ever leave.

Parents, biko, hear me: this generation is not your generation. Stop giving your daughters out in marriage as children. They know nothing about marriage.

A man with no business marrying a twenty-year-old will always look for a girl he can control. Read it again *control.* That is the whole game.

This girl needs help.

🚨🚨”WHY WE CAN NOT OVER LOOK 18YRS OLD CHISOM CASE”.—Harrison Gwamnishu

“Why we cannot abandon 18-year-old Chisom. Her case is unusual, and she is deeply traumatized. Despite everything she has been through, she still needs support, protection, and understanding.

Chisom has endured a lot at such a young age. The physical and emotional scars she carries cannot be ignored. This is not the time to turn our backs on her. She deserves care, justice, and the opportunity to heal and rebuild her life.

No matter how difficult the situation may be, abandoning her is not an option.

Yesterday, while she pleaded with us not to arrest the man claiming to be her husband, I almost backed down. However, something in me said, "Harrison, involve your Lagos team." I immediately contacted our Behind bars human rights foundation Lagos chapter head Nta Amarachi Judith, who arrived promptly. After briefing her on the next steps, I left the scene.

The suspect was handed over to Isheri oshun Divisional Police Headquarters, his statement was obtained, he was detained, and officers also visited Chisom at the hospital.

Preliminary findings indicate that Chisom was only 15 years old when the relationship between her and the man reportedly began.

Earlier today, I received a call from a relative of Chisom's father, who narrated that Chisom was taken away after her mother died. She was just seven years old when members of her late mother's family took her and her three siblings away. Since then, they had not set eyes on Chisom and two of her siblings until yesterday, when they saw the viral video circulating on social media.

According to them, Chisom's father became depressed after losing his wife and having his children taken away from him. They also stated that he was never aware of any marriage involving Chisom and the man now claiming to be her husband.

My Lagos State Director, Nta Amarachi Judith, is actively following up on this case, while we await the conclusion of the Police investigation.

We owe it to Chisom to ensure that justice is served and that every aspect of this matter is thoroughly investigated.”
