Be honest with yourself, Why do you really go to church every Sunday?
Is it because you genuinely desire to hear from God?
Or has going to church simply become a routine?
For some people, Sunday is about seeing friends.
For some, it is about wearing beautiful clothes and looking good.
For others, it is simply a religious obligation something they believe they must do because they are Christians.
But there is a deeper question we need to ask ourselves
When you sit in church, what are you expecting from God?
A true Christian doesn't come to church merely to complete a weekly routine.
He comes with a heart that is ready to hear God.
Lord, what are You teaching me today?
What in my life needs to change?
Is there something in me that is displeasing to You?
How can I become more like Christ?
That is the heart God is looking for.
A true Christian doesn't listen to God's Word simply to gain knowledge, argue with it, or point out what is wrong with other people.
He listens with a heart that says Lord, help me obey You.
Even when God's Word corrects him or her
Even when it exposes something he doesn't want to change.
Even when it challenges his lifestyle.
He doesn't choose only the parts of God's Word that are convenient and reject the parts that confront him.
Because the purpose of God's Word is not merely to make us hearers.
It is to make us doers.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only James 1:22
So, when you go to church this Sunday, don't only ask What did the preacher say?
Ask yourself What is God saying to me?
And even more importantly What am I going to do about it?
Because true Christianity is not simply about attending church, carrying a Bible, or knowing Scripture. It is about having a heart that is continually being transformed by Christ and becoming willing to obey Him.
So, be honest with yourself👇
Are you simply going to church, or are you allowing God to change you?
Don't just hear the Word. Let the Word work in you.
