Governor Alia Donates Three Buses to NBA Branches, Unveils Remodeled Justice Ministry Complex
Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has donated three new buses to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) branches in Makurdi, Gboko and Otukpo as part of efforts to strengthen the justice sector in the state.
The donation was made shortly after Governor Alia commissioned the newly remodelled and fully furnished Ministry of Justice complex at the Judiciary Headquarters in Makurdi.
The renovated facility is expected to provide a more conducive working environment for judicial officers, lawyers and other professionals within the justice sector, while supporting the effective administration of justice in Benue State.
Speaking during the event, Governor Alia also addressed the security situation in the state.
According to the Governor, insecurity previously affected about 19 local government areas, but the number has now been reduced to three.
However, he stressed that his administration is not satisfied with the current situation and will continue working until insecurity is completely eradicated from the state.
Governor Alia maintained that the safety of citizens remains one of the major responsibilities of government, noting that meaningful development cannot be sustained when people are unable to live and conduct their businesses peacefully.
The Governor also commended members of the judiciary for their efforts in upholding the rule of law and ensuring that citizens have access to justice.
He said a strong and independent judiciary is essential for building a strong society, adding that citizens are more confident in the rule of law when courts are properly equipped and judicial officers have a conducive working environment.
The Alia administration has also continued to support the judiciary through interventions aimed at strengthening institutional independence and financial autonomy.
The three buses donated to the NBA branches in Makurdi, Gboko and Otukpo are expected to improve mobility and assist lawyers in carrying out their professional responsibilities across the state.
Governor Alia further assured the judiciary and the legal profession that his administration would continue to provide the necessary support for them to effectively discharge their responsibilities.
For the Alia administration, the development of Benue goes beyond roads and physical infrastructure. It also involves strengthening institutions, improving public services, supporting professionals and creating systems that work for the people.
