Stop Open Grazing in Igede Land
The growing activities of open-grazing cattle in Igede land, particularly in Oju, are becoming a serious threat to our farmers and food security. Reports of cattle destroying maize, cassava, yam, and other crops are deeply concerning. If this continues, many farmers may become afraid to go to their farms, creating hardship and potentially leading to food shortages.
Our traditional rulers, political leaders, and youth leaders must stop keeping quiet. If people own cattle, they should build ranches, provide proper feeding and care, and stop allowing their animals to roam freely through people's farms and communities.
There are also allegations that some individuals may be collecting money to give herders access to communities and farmlands. These allegations must be properly investigate, and anyone found responsible should be held accountable.
This is not about ethnicity. It is about protecting our farms, our people, and our livelihoods.
We demand an end to open grazing in Igede land. Let our leaders act now before the situation becomes a major crisis. Protect our farmers. Protect our farms. Protect our food security.
