WHAT FORMER PRESIDENTS FAILED TO DO AND FEARED.
I have seen people advising the President to slow down or suspend the tax reform implementation. They fear it may hurt President Tinubu as he prepares for re-election.
What many don’t understand is why a leader would dare to implement reforms other Nigerian leaders avoided for decades.
From day one, Tinubu tackled petrol subsidy. People feared the worst—and yes, the country staggered. Then he went further and removed the dollar subsidy. Inflation surged, food prices soared, petrol prices rose, and many feared total collapse.
But as 2025 drew on, things began to change for good. Prices started coming down.
Today, food is not just available—it’s cheaper and more stable. Petrol is also cheaper and readily available. And before anyone mentions Dangote, let’s be honest: without subsidy removal, there wouldn’t be a Dangote Refinery as we know it today.
Now it’s tax reform, and even people who don’t like the President are worried for him politically.
But this is exactly why we voted for him. He understands the problems and knows the way forward. He’s not here to pander to the crowd or play to the gallery. He’s here to fix what’s broken.
Despite it being a campaign season, Tinubu is pushing through because he believes this country must drink water even from a dry well.
'Nigeria must have a proper and better economy', that's the Tinubu ringer
