My two papaya trees are currently male and non-fruiting hence, I’m going to be experimenting with traditional methods to change their s*x. Today(Jan 5, 2026), I applied two different techniques:
Method 1: I made diagonal cuts through the trunk and inserted wooden sticks to create "stress." Pic.1
Method 2: I decapitated the top portion of the tree to force new growth. Pic 2
The hope is that these physiological shocks will encourage the trees to produce female or hermaphrodite flowers. I will share updates as the new growth appears.
