This is part two of our water pH meter calibration.

We check the water pH, not just the soil, to ensure the solubility of nutrients supplied to the plant remains unchanged and to avoid nutrient lock-out.

Solubility refers to the maximum amount of solute that can dissolve in a solvent solution.

Therefore, for healthy plant growth, it’s important to check both soil and water pH.

We’re on a journey to achieve SDG 2, 11 and 13 in line with the UN’s 2030 Agenda. This field update comes to you from the Ubuntu Green Climate Foundation and FYD Farms.
This project began in January by nurturing seed-seedlings and has now grown into a household-sized plant which has been distributed in Kuje, Abuja.

Moringa “Moringa oleifera” is a powerhouse crop for climate resilience and community nutrition. Its exceptional drought resistance and deep root system combat soil erosion and restore degraded land while sequestering significant carbon. This makes it ideal for arid regions fighting climate change. Furthermore, often called the “miracle tree”, its leaves are packed with protein vitamins A and C calcium and iron. Harvestable year-round even during dry seasons, moringa provides households with a continuous low-cost defence against malnutrition. Planting moringa strengthens both ecological stability and community health.
