Maybe this will be my final address to the Zion Ministry members on this matter.
1. On the donation
I was made to understand that a total of ₦25 million was donated to the Home for Elderly Priests, while an additional ₦100,000 was shared among the priests and their domestic workers for “recharge cards and upkeep,” as explained by some Zionites.
That brings the total to ₦25.1 million.
This is a huge and commendable contribution. 🤝
May God bless Evangelist Ebuka Obi abundantly. Amen.
2. On the presentation of the ₦100,000
My concern remains the manner in which the ₦100,000 cash was handed directly to the priests without being placed in envelopes or properly presented.
In my opinion, the money should have been placed in an envelope or an appropriate presentation package before being handed to them. If that was not possible, then I believe that particular moment—and especially the pictures showing the cash being handed directly to the priests—should not have been made public.
Why?
Because, to me, it comes across as disrespectful to the dignity of the priests.
Let me ask a simple question: If the person being visited had been the Bishop, would they—or his media team—have presented and published the money in the same manner?
I sincerely doubt it.
So why is it difficult for us to acknowledge that this particular aspect could have been handled better?
Priests deserve the same level of dignity, honour, and respect that we would extend to any other senior Church authority. The manner in which financial gifts are presented also matters.
I still stand by my earlier position: the way the money was openly handed over and displayed was disrespectful, regardless of the good intention behind the donation.
You may continue with your arguments and disagreements, but I hope we can also learn from this situation.
God bless us all.
God bless His Church.
