First Harvest

This coming month go stew 😋
My babies don comot for labor 🥳 come gimme these beautiful cucumberlinas.
But customers no gree me taste even one — na so dem pack all of them dey go house.
Anyway, I like am like that 😁

Chronicles of a Farmer

One other thing I dread in this line of work is staking.
Omo, staking is not for the weak.
I was able to do this in two days because I had help from a few God-sent

The first day I came to stake — Tuesday — July rain say no! enter house, osiso.

Na so I dey farm under the shade from 10am to 3pm without doing a thing.
The rain go see say I don carry twine, e go begin fall. I go go back under shade, e go stop.
I no even wan talk about rain always washing off the pesticides and fertilizers I spray 🥲
Na wetin me and am been dey do. I just vex go house.

Anyways, I finished it today, by God’s Grace.
Another hard work successfully completed 😁

Chronicles of a Farmer

There are:
Good days and bad days,
Ups and downs,
Life and death,
And there is success and failure.

So it is on the farm.

There are certain things beyond us farmers.
We can only plant and nurture, but among the many that thrived, a few were lost.

We only sigh 😔 and move on. Or maybe replant, and even after that, they may not survive.

There will always be a percentage that will not make it. But just like I said in one of my episodes, I’m not only ready for success and yields — I’m also ready for losses.

To my short-lived green babies, those that were lost to disease, non-germination, pest attacks, and poor management: though decayed, you are not forgotten. You died so others could live, and even in your death you enriched the living as manure.

What do you call this, and what do you think it’s used for?

Whenever I carry this, so many people ask, "Do you spray herbicides?"

I usually don’t know what to answer. Not because I don’t know what to say, but because if I say "yes," they’ll think that’s the only use for a sprayer, or the only thing I do.

For educational purposes: a knapsack sprayer has other uses apart from spraying herbicides.

1. To spray water on seedlings
2. To spray pesticides
3. To spray fertilizers/foliar feeds
4. To spray herbicides

What do you call this, and what do you think it’s used for?
