Do you plan your meals, or does the Nigerian in you prefer to rack your head every time?
Why do you (or don’t you) plan your meals? Let’s hear it 😊🤪

09/10/2025

Why do we need to plan our meal?

We need to plan our meals because it helps in many ways:
1. Healthier choices – When meals are planned, it’s easier to include balanced nutrition (fruits, vegetables, protein, whole grains) instead of relying on junk food.
2. Saves money – Planning reduces impulse buying and food waste since you only purchase what you actually need.
3. Saves time – You avoid last-minute stress of thinking “What should I eat?” and cooking becomes faster with ingredients ready.
4. Better portion control – Planned meals help prevent overeating or skipping meals.
5. Supports goals – Whether it’s weight management, fitness, or dietary needs (like low sugar, vegetarian, etc.), planning keeps you on track.
6. Family benefits – When cooking for a household, planning ensures everyone gets proper meals without repeating the same food too often.

👉 In short: Planning meals = better health, less stress, and more savings.

Let’s make Croissants this morning.

🎥: 💯

Ingredients
• 4 cups all-purpose flour
• ½ cup warm milk
• ½ cup warm water
• 2 tablespoons sugar
• 2 teaspoons salt
• 2½ teaspoons instant yeast (1 sachet)
• 250g unsalted butter (cold, for laminating)
• 2 tablespoons melted butter (for dough)
• 1 egg (for egg wash)

Method
1. Activate yeast: Mix warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Make dough: Add flour, salt, and melted butter to yeast mixture. Knead into a smooth dough. Cover and chill for 30 minutes.
3. Prepare butter block: Place cold butter between two sheets of parchment paper. Pound and roll into a flat rectangle. Chill.
4. Laminate: Roll out dough into a rectangle. Place butter block in the center, fold dough over it (like an envelope). Roll out gently, then fold into thirds. Chill 20–30 minutes. Repeat this rolling and folding process 3–4 times, chilling between each fold.
5. Shape croissants: Roll dough into a large rectangle. Cut into long triangles. Roll each triangle from the base to the tip to form croissant shapes.
6. Proof: Place shaped croissants on a baking tray. Cover lightly and let rise until doubled in size (about 1–2 hours).
7. Bake: Brush with beaten egg. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 15–20 minutes, until golden brown and flaky.

Happy weekend peeps! Are you owambe ready? Let’s go! Which would you be eating at the party today?

Differences:
• Egusi (melon soup): Seed-based, heavier, more calorie-dense, rich in protein and healthy fats → great for energy and muscle building.
• Vegetable soup: Leaf-based, lighter, lower in calories, very high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals → great for digestion, immunity, and weight control.
For weight loss: eat vegetable soup often, add small portions of egusi occasionally.
• For weight gain: eat more egusi with swallow (eba, pounded yam, fufu), and add vegetable soup for vitamins and balance.
