Today's market ended like a wave of orange flame... Pheeew

The trend that started last market continued today.

Demand went up tremendously.

And the prices followed.

But what happened today was even more interesting.

Before we knew it, the chicks were gone.

The available chicks were already booked.

In fact, we stopped taking orders before 1 PM.

There were still people calling later to book, but unfortunately, there were no more chicks available

This is a sign that the season is taking shape.

Demand is rising.

Farmers are stocking.

And as demand keeps increasing, availability can become a serious issue.

So, if you have been waiting until later in the day before booking your chicks, this is the time to change that habit.

Once I post the prices on market day, if you are ready to buy, book early.

Make your payment early.

Let us secure your order early and arrange your delivery.

Don't wait until the afternoon when you start seeing people saying

"Please, I need 2 cartons."

"Can I still book?"

And we have to tell you

"Sorry, they are finished."

That's what happened to some people today.

And as the season gets hotter, I expect this to happen more often.

Every Mondays & Thursdays ,I post the updated prices in my WhatsApp Price Update & Booking Group and Facebook Group.

The WhatsApp group is where I post the prices, payment details and take orders.

So if you're planning to stock, don't just watch the market. Be ready for it.

Comment "GROUP" if you want to join the WhatsApp group.

Please, stop asking me for day-old chick prices on non-market days. 🙏

I I sometimes get comments like:

"How much?"

"How much is broiler?"

And sometimes these comments can be many.

The problem is, if today is not a market day, what exactly do you expect me to tell you?

The updated prices of day-old chicks are released on Mondays & Thursdays.

Those are our market days in Ibadan.

That is when hatcheries release their current prices, farmers place their orders, we package the chicks and hand them to drivers for deliveries to different parts of Nigeria.

So the price you see on Monday may not be the price on Thursday.

And the Thursday price may not be the price for the next Monday.

That is why I cannot give you an " updated" price on Wednesday when the market price has not been released yet.

To make things easier for both of us, I created a WhatsApp Price Update & Booking Group.

On every market day, I post the updated prices there.

I also post the payment details, and if you're ready to buy, you can go ahead and place your order.

We then package your chicks and arrange delivery to your location.

I also post the updated prices in the Facebook Group.

So please, if you see my post on a non-market day, don't just comment:

"How much?"

Instead, wait for the next market day or join the WhatsApp group so you can receive the price update when it is released.

If you want to join the WhatsApp group, simply comment "GROUP" and I will send you the link.

Some poultry farmers have started romanticizing slow sales.

The way some farmers talk about slow sales of broilers sometimes, you would think they are even happy that the birds are not selling.

You see someone post:

"this period, sales are slow."

"My birds are not moving."

"There's no market" & all what not

And sometimes, when you try to tell them what they can actually do about it, somebody will come and say:

"Do you think it is all about marketing?"

Yes.

It is about marketing.

What other way do you want to sell a product you have produced?

You have birds.

You have invested money in chicks, feed, medication, labour and everything else.

The birds have grown.

They are ready for the market.

Now, where are the buyers?

You cannot wait until your birds are mature before you start thinking about who will buy them.

That is not how business works.

You should have been marketing before they matured.

You should have been telling people you are raising broilers.

You should have been showing your birds as they grow.

You should have been talking to restaurants.

Hotels.

Event caterers.

Food vendors.

Suya sellers.

Families.

Churches.

Companies.

People around you.

You should have been building relationships with potential buyers before your birds were ready.

And if you are on social media, you should have been using it.

Post your farm.

Post your birds.

Show their growth.

Talk about what you are doing.

Tell people when they will be ready.

Create anticipation.

Let people know that you sell broilers.

Because when your birds finally mature, you should not be asking

"Who will buy these birds?"

You should already have people asking

"When are the birds ready?"

That is marketing.

And I'm not saying this from theory.

I am telling you this from experience.

As someone who has been supplying day-old chicks from Ibadan & marketing for years, I have seen the compounding effect of consistent marketing.

When you market for a long time, something happens.

People begin to know you.

People begin to remember you.

People begin to trust you.

People begin to refer you.

And when you have something to sell, you are no longer starting from zero.

That is the power of consistent marketing.

So yes, learn how to raise good broilers.

Learn feeding, Learn vaccination, brooding & others

Learn how to manage your birds properly.

But don't stop there.

Learn how to sell what you produce.

Because what is the point of producing something excellent if you don't know how to get it into the hands of the person who needs it?

You cannot keep coming online to complain that your birds are not selling and expect people to sympathize with you.

You didn't bring the problem online for sympathy.

You brought it online because you have a problem.

So when somebody gives you a possible solution, don't fight the solution.

Go and learn it.

Marketing is not an optional part of your poultry business.

It is part of the business.

If you can raise 200 birds but cannot sell them, you have learned how to produce birds.

You have not yet learned how to run the business.

Don't just learn how to grow birds.

Learn how to create demand for them.

Because at the end of the day, the money is not in the birds you raise.

The money is in the birds you successfully sell.

Thank you.

Today's Market Is Over

As you can see in the picture below...

This is what happens after every market day in Ibadan.

For those who may not know, Mondays & Thursdays are the official market days for day-old chicks in Nigeria. These are the days hatcheries release fresh prices, farmers place their orders, we package the chicks, & hand them over to drivers for delivery.

The bus you are seeing is loaded with cartons of day-old chicks beginning an overnight journey to different parts of Nigeria.

By tomorrow morning, many farmers across different states will be receiving the chicks they ordered today.

That's how we do it, every Monday & Thursday.

As a day-old chick supplier, one of my responsibilities is to gather prices from the different hatcheries and publish them as soon as they are released.

I post them in the Facebook Group and in my WhatsApp Price Update & Booking Group.

The WhatsApp group is also where I take orders & confirm payments

If you'd like to receive market-day prices first and book your chicks whenever you are ready, simply comment "Add me" and I will send you the WhatsApp group link.

Or, if you're ready to restock your farm, call or WhatsApp me directly:

Today's Market Observation

Today's market is officially over, so let me analyze the market for you as a day old chicks supplier

The prices of day-old chicks dropped significantly across all hatcheries.

If you are in my Facebook group or WhatsApp group, you'll notice it from the updated prices I posted today.

But here's the more interesting part..

Chicks finished much earlier today.

That simply means demand was encouraging

Considering we're still in the rainy season, a period when many farmers are usually cautious about stocking because of weather-related challenges, that was quite encouraging to see.

Now the big question is:

What happens on Thursday?

Will prices remain where they are?

Will they reduce a little more?

Or will today's stronger demand begin to push prices back up?

Honestly, I can't tell yet.

We will know when the hatcheries release the next market prices on Thursday morning.

As always, once they are out, I will post them immediately in the Facebook group and in my WhatsApp Price Update Group.

If you're not yet in the WhatsApp group and you'd like to receive market prices first & book your chicks directly, simply comment "Add me" and I'll send you the link.

Why I don't usually respond to "I need 2 cartons" comments under my posts.

I see comments like

"I need 2 cartons. My location is..."

First of all, thank you for your interest.

But here's why I don't usually continue the conversation in the comment section.

I do not offer payment on delivery.

If you want me to supply your day-old chicks, you have to book and make full payment before your order is packaged & dispatched.

Now think about it.

If I reply to your comment with my account number, will you make payment immediately?

In most cases, the answer is no.

Not because you are a bad person or don't mean business

But because you don't trust me enough yet.

And that's understandable.

Trust comes before payment.

That's why I prefer we move the conversation to my DM, WhatsApp or a phone call first.

We discuss what you need.

Your location.

The breed.

The quantity.

You ask your questions.

I ask you questions

When you're satisfied & I'm satisfied, I send my payment details.

Over the years, I have understood how farmers think.

That's why I created a WhatsApp group.

I created that group on request. People kept asking for it. That was why I created i

On every market day, I post the latest prices there, together with my payment details.

Farmers who are ready to buy simply make payment and send their receipts.

Some send them in the group.

Others send them privately to my WhatsApp.

Once payment is confirmed, we package the order and send it.

The process is straightforward.

So, if you comment under my post asking for chicks and I don't continue the discussion there, please don't take it personally.

It's simply because I have learned that the comment section is not where orders are completed.

If you'd like to join my WhatsApp group, comment "Add me", and I will send you the link to join the group.

Or call/WhatsApp me: 08103110604

You'll receive market-day price updates, interact with other farmers, and when you're ready, you can place your order.
