CAUSES OF DARK LIPS
--------------------------------------------------
Dark lips can happen for several reasons, and often it’s a mix of lifestyle, health, and environmental factors.
HERE'S A BREAKDOWN:
1️⃣. Sun Exposure
Too much sun can increase melanin in the lips, making them darker.
Lips don’t have much protection like skin, so UV damage shows faster.
2️⃣. Smoking
Ni****ne stains lips over time, causing a dull or dark appearance.
Heavy smoking can create permanent pigmentation.
3️⃣. Dehydration
Not drinking enough water can make lips dry, chapped, and darker.
Dry lips lose their natural pink color.
4️⃣. Caffeine or Alcohol
Excess coffee or alcohol can dry lips and increase pigmentation.
5️⃣. Allergic Reactions
Some lipsticks, balms, or toothpastes contain chemicals that irritate lips and cause darkening.
6️⃣. Medical Conditions
Vitamin deficiencies (like B12), anemia, or hormonal changes can darken lips.
Certain medications may also have pigmentation as a side effect.
7️⃣. Genetics
Some people naturally have darker lips due to higher melanin.
8️⃣. Lip Biting or Constant Rubbing
Trauma to lips from biting, licking, or harsh scrubbing can cause pigmentation over time.
