# # # *Version 1: Short & Powerful (1-2 mins) - Perfect for you*
> *Happy Independence Day Nigeria!*
> Fellow Nigerians,
> Today, the 1st of October 2026, we celebrate 66 years of our great nation’s independence. 66 years since the lowering of the Union Jack and the raising of our Green-White-Green — a symbol of our agriculture, our peace, and our hope.
> Independence was not just a gift given to us in 1960; it was fought for by heroes like Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Ahmadu Bello, and Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. Their sacrifice reminds us that Nigeria was built on unity and courage.
> Yes, we have faced challenges — but we are still standing. We are a people of over 250 ethnic groups, yet one nation. A people of resilience, creativity, and unbreakable spirit.
> As we celebrate today, let us remember: Nigeria’s future is not in the hands of government alone, but in our hands. Let us be patriotic in our small corners. Let us choose peace over division, and work over complaint.
> God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
> God bless you all!
> *Happy Independence Day!*

> Protocol...
> On this historic day, 1st October 2026, I stand before you with immense pride and gratitude to join millions of Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to celebrate Nigeria at 66.
> On 1st October 1960, our founding fathers achieved the dream of a free and sovereign Nigeria. They dreamt of a country where justice, equity, and prosperity would reign. That dream is still alive.
> We cannot celebrate without reflecting. From 1960 to today, we have weathered civil war, military rule, economic ups and downs, but we have never broken. That is the Nigerian spirit.
> Our greatest strength has always been our people. The farmer in Kebb
