After 17 years, I have decided to bring UNOBENTO’s catering service to a close on August 31, 2026.
UNOBENTO began on September 1, 2009, in the simplest way: one of my husband’s colleagues saw the lunchbox I had made for him with leftovers from dinner and asked if I could make one for him too. One lunchbox became two, then three, and eventually parties and events. Before I knew it, catering had become my profession.
Through food, I was given so many unexpected opportunities—to create tableware, organize events, and meet countless wonderful people. Every encounter taught me something and helped shape who I am today.
In recent years, my focus has gradually shifted toward ikebana and my work as an artist. As UNOBENTO approaches its eighteenth year, I feel it is time to simplify my life and dedicate myself more fully to artistic expression and to exploring the inner landscape of the heart.
One thing, however, remains unchanged: my belief in the importance of gathering around a table and sharing a meal. In a world where more and more of our lives take place online, genuine human connection feels more precious than ever.
So although the catering service is ending, I hope to continue “Samen Eten いっしょに食べよう” in a new form, as part of my artistic practice and performances.
From now on, I will be sharing my journey through performances, workshops, and other creative projects.
You can follow my work through my monthly newsletter, at www.uno.amsterdam, or on Instagram Uno Fujisawa
It is only because of the kindness and support of so many people that I was able to continue UNOBENTO for seventeen years.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being part of this extraordinary chapter of my life.
I hope your days continue to be filled with warm connections, joyful gatherings, and many delicious moments shared together.
Thank you, always.
Uno
