Wait... a whale tail?? ๐
For years, a humpback whale named Boomerang would occasionally return to this stretch of coastline, treating locals and visitors to the sight of his majestic presence.
Today, a sculpture stands in his honour, and right beside it sits the Clonakilty Distillery.

Today we're enjoying the Clonakilty Single Cask, finished in a 10y.o. Calem Tawny Port cask and it's specially bottled for the Netherlands by Craft Spirits NL.
๐๐ฝ: It starts immediately with dark fruit notes and even some dried fruit. Plums, raisins, but it also has something floral. Then the scent becomes a bit heavier. Meaty, slightly metallic with some spice notes of bay leaf, anise, and a hint of samiac hidden in the background. On the back, there is a hint of wood that didn't come to the fore earlier, and some candy notes of marshmallow and a bit of nougat come through.

: A full and spicy flavor. Samiac, anise, licorice, a hint of bay leaf. Then salted caramel takes over, leaning more towards burnt sugar with a light peppery note that carries through to the finish. The licorice returns briefly a little later, leaving a slightly bitter and salty layer in the throat from the oak.
๐: Spicy, slightly bitter, and slightly dry with a peppery note that lingers and slowly fades away.
