Mounted at the front of the seed drill, these spring-loaded discs slice through surface trash before the tines follow, reducing buildup and keeping seed depth consistent. Not all tine drills come fitted with them, so it's an important thing to consider when choosing your machine.

A raw and real look at a recently delivered GrassFarmer® 3014D getting straight to work in Northland.
Take note of the sprung metering wheel following the ground contour. That's what delivers consistent seed metering across uneven terrain, while the concave discs keep ground disturbance to a minimum.
