1st day of Spring and it’s been a bloody rugged last 48 hours in Heriot.
Tagged just on 330 stud Dorset Down lambs in the last week. Calving started as well so far from ideal weather . Fingers cross the sun comes out to dry us out before the rest of the ewes start soon🤞🏻

NEW STUD EWES

With the Moeraki Downs Coopworth stud selling their farm and subsequently their stud we took the opportunity to purchase what we considered the pick of the Stud ewes. All ewes over 3000 index and all scanned in lamb to have twins and triplets .

These ewes arrived tonight … not the greatest day to arrive to West Otago 👍

Rich red he has a great top and spine to him. He moves well and has plenty of meat all over him. Stylish he is a real quality bull.

Lot 8 Glendhu Tupou 475

A Raupuha Heritage son out of a 2 yr old heifer.
A very young bull (born 25th of October) this is one of my favourites

Great top and spine, he has a bit more volume to him. Strong head and shoulders , very docile bull

Another low birth sire at +2.4 he was one of the heaviest cakves at weaning reflected in strong 200 day weight (+33)
Big SS at +2.6 and huge EMA at +6.5 (all top 5%)

A really classy bull whom will continue to develop given his age

A real moderate frame Ofahengaue son . His mum is one of our oldest cows and still here at 12 years of age .
Her 4th sale son in 8 years so some strong maternal lines here

Very stylish bull he’s got a great top and back end . Nice shoulders for calving ease he’s shaped the right way. Very soft bull.

Another young bull (October born) he is low birth again at +1.9 (top 20%).

Big EMA at +5.9 and fats at +1.7 and +0.9.(all in top 10%)

A Ofahengaue son who has really caught everyone’s attention over the past month. A late born bull at 15th of October he has really developed

Thick skinned, he’s a well balanced sire who’s well set up.

Low birth he’s an ideal heifer mating option.

Strong carcase data with EMA and fats in the top 25%.

Great IMF bull he is in top 5%.

A lot of length to this bull he is another who has caught the eye when looking at the mob over the last month.
