Some of my Queen Lime Zinnias are a warm, rosy brick-red, with cool lavender in the centres.
I also had so frilly single Giant Marigolds starting to flower.
I really wanted to see if I could make this warm-cool colour clash work in a bouquet, incorporating lots of different shades of yellow and orange that I wouldn't normally pair up in an arrangement.
It's not perfect, but I'm quite pleased with the experiment. I think the slight clash gives the bouquet a really energetic, happy vibe 🫢

The days are getting shorter, and the nights are growing colder... That means Chrysanthemums aren't far away!

Every year I like to make a guess whether the Mums will bloom in time for Easter. It's often a close race!

I thought I'd lost this grapevine last year, but it came back swinging this season, and even has a few small bunches of grapes beginning to swell beneath the leaves.

I bought another grape and planted it at the base of the arbour at the opposite end of the potager.
One day, both arbours will be smothered with vine and fruit πŸ₯°

Shades of soft raspberry, lashings of white, and a hint of sunshine yellow.

The nice thing about planting out your garden super late is that every is fresh and just getting going in autumn 😊

A dozen seed-grown Dahlias are just about to bloom; a crop of self-sown Nigella is budding up nicely; and our first crop of branching Sunflowers is tantalizingly close!

Sunshowers β˜”, thunder, rainbows 🌈 , cool mornings, and leaves starting to fall... Autumn is almost here!!

A rainbow arched right over our property today, and I was suddenly reminded of how blessed we have been to be stewards of this land.

Deo gratias!

Beautiful Eva kindly modelled this bouquet for me today. We had such a lovely time, I hope I can have her back to sit for me again sometime.
Didn't she do a fab job??!!

A delicate, uncomplicated, pastel take on Autumn florals today.

Roses, Dahlias, Lavender Hidcote, Aster (Michelmas Daisy), Nigella, Feverfew, and Scabiosa Fama White.

Late summer mornings on the farm in Brunswick, Whanganui.

Our 1-year-old woke me before dawn, but he went back to sleep for a change, so I popped out to capture the sunrise.

I half expected Darcy to come striding out of the mist, it was so picturesque.

You really sense the approach of winter, with dew heavy on the grass, and hanging like dainty pearls from every stem and leaf - every petal and spiderweb.

This is your reminder to enjoy the sun and heat before the wet season sets in!
