Westwood never followed the rules. Neither should your rosé.
The pendulum has swung.
Today’s most sought-after rosés aren’t candy pink or dripping in sweetness. They’re whisper pale, unapologetically dry and built with the same intent as a serious white wine. It’s why sommeliers pour them by the glass, chefs build menus around them, and why they’re disappearing from ice buckets faster than ever.
Our winemaker, Pete Turner has had a little fun with this one.
Hand-picked Merlot and Syrah from our Carter Vineyard on Waiheke Island. Less than 2g/L residual sugar. Pale enough to make you look twice, with wild strawberry, white peach and citrus, before a fine saline thread pulls everything into focus. That final lick of sea spray? That’s Waiheke doing what Waiheke does.
The new label arrives just in time for our cellar door to reopen this spring, where Westwood will once again find its way into every table, every catch-up and every “just one more” that somehow isn’t.
Until then, your fridge is a perfectly good cellar.
