What difference does climate really make to wh**ky?

It’s a question now being explored on a global scale — and Pōkeno is part of the story.

Pōkeno Wh**ky has been selected to represent Zealandia in The 8 Continent Series, an international project and scientific study exploring how different climates influence wh**ky maturation.

The collection brings together single malt whiskies matured across eight continents, creating an opportunity to compare how temperature, humidity and environment shape what eventually ends up in the glass.

For us, the relationship between wh**ky and place has always mattered.

Now, Pōkeno will be part of a global study looking a little deeper into exactly why.

Thanks for having us, Tauranga!

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the Pōkeno stand at the Bay Home Show over the weekend.

It was great to share a few drams, meet plenty of new faces and catch up with a few familiar ones too.

We loved having the chance to introduce more people to Pōkeno and share a little of what makes our New Zealand single malt different.

Part of making wh**ky is knowing when to leave it alone and when to check in.

Sampling from the cask gives us a chance to follow how the wh**ky is developing, understand what the wood is giving us and decide what comes next.

There’s no shortcut to that process.

Just time, judgement and plenty of patience.
