Spotted a sprout? It’s all part of the process.

Sprouting is a natural part of a potato’s growth cycle and can happen as the weather starts to warm up.

If the sprouts are small, simply flick them off, then cook and enjoy your potatoes as usual.

Easy as that.

Our new season Perlas are coming along beautifully up in Northland, and they’ll be landing in supermarkets from September.

These gourmet baby potatoes are perfect simply boiled, tossed in butter and finished with a little salt and fresh herbs.

The big one is here!

Back in June, our very own James Blair took out the 2026 Pukekohe Young Grower regional title – and this week he heads to Cromwell for the national Young Grower of the Year final on 27–28 August.

He’ll be up against the country’s best young growers across a series of practical and theory challenges, representing Pukekohe and the whole Wilcox team.

We're recruiting 20 Seasonal Tractor Operators and 1 Tractor Driver / Truck Driver to help harvest our carrot, onion and potato crops.

✔ Previous tractor or machinery operating experience is preferred.
✔ We are also recruiting one Tractor Driver / Machinery Operator. Truck driving experience is an advantage for this position.
✔ All applicants must hold a current driver's licence.

Sometimes, the simplest changes can make a real difference.

This season, we’ve brought our lamb grazing programme across to our Mauku and Patumahoe farms. Instead of cutting silage through September and October, the lambs graze the paddocks for us, helping reduce soil compaction during a wetter time of year.

They also play an important part in nutrient recycling, returning goodness back into the soil and supporting the next crop in the rotation.

It’s another practical way we’re working with the land and building sustainability into the way we farm.

Ever wondered how carrot harvesting changes with the seasons?

During the warmer months, carrots can be lifted from the soil by their leafy tops. But as winter sets in, those tops become softer and lose their strength, so our team switches to digging the carrots straight from the ground instead.

Same great carrots, just a different way of bringing them in from the field.
