LeaderBrand was established in 1975 by Murray McPhail when he took over the family sheep and cattle farm, converting it to grow his first crop of potatoes. With some grit, ingenuity and a whole lot of hard work, LeaderBrand evolved from a small family venture to New Zealand’s leading horticulture business,

With farms in Gisborne, Pukekohe and Chertsey we grow, harvest, pack, market and distribute fresh produce and bagged salads around Aotearoa. We know people are curious about what goes into growing their food, so here's a little insight into ours. 🌱

Our crops are monitored closely by our agronomists and only treated when needed. We use tools such as bioactive seaweed fertilisers to support plant health, alongside targeted treatments to manage pests and disease when required. These practices help protect our crops so we can supply fresh produce to you all year round. 🥬

Our salad leaf crops are weeded using our new Carbon Robotics G2 Laser Weeder, which helps us further reduce herbicide use and continue improving how we grow our fresh produce. 🥦💚

Once harvested, our salads are triple washed in sterile water before being air dried and packed, helping ensure they're fresh and ready to enjoy. It also means that our salad leaf stays fresher for longer in our bags. It's all part of our fresh guarantee from garden gate to dinner plate. 🍽️
