Whats happening this month in food service....

What should you be watching across the foodservice market this October?

As we move further into spring and towards the busy summer trading period, there’s plenty happening across protein and fresh produce.

Beef and lamb supply remains relatively well supported, although developing dry conditions could influence the season ahead.

Pork supply is steady, but for imported product, freight, shipping capacity and lead times remain important factors to watch.

Across fresh produce, NZ asparagus is in full swing, tomatoes are looking good and berry availability is building. Meanwhile, potatoes, Agria potatoes and brown onions remain tight.

Meet Luke 👋 One of the newest faces in our Waipapa team and already a firm favourite with his customers!

Luke joined us around three and a half months ago as an Account Manager, bringing plenty of experience from the liquor and hospitality industries along with a great understanding of what it’s like on the other side of the table.

He’s full of positive energy, knows hospitality inside and out, and has quickly built some pretty great relationships with his customers across the Far North.

Fennel ~ One of those ingredients that can completely change depending on how you use it 🌿

Fresh and crisp with a delicate sweetness and subtle anise flavour, it’s a great one for spring menus. Shave it finely into salads and slaws, roast or caramelise the bulb for something sweeter, or use the fronds as a fresh finishing touch.
