“How far ahead should we book?” We hear this one a lot. 📅

The short answer: earlier than you’d think. Most of our weddings are booked around 12 - 18 months out, and spring and summer Saturdays go first. But always reach out if you have an event coming up.

A few other questions that come up often.

Do you travel?
Yes, all around the Coromandel.

Can you cater for dietary needs?
Absolutely, just let us know when you enquire. Is it just weddings? Not at all - birthdays, long lunches and celebrations of all kinds.

Got a question we haven’t covered? Pop it in the comments or send us a DM.

October, and we’re properly in it now. 🌊

Most weeks this month we’re out the door for three events or more. Early starts, full chillers, and a crew that’s well and truly found its rhythm again.

Every event gets the same care, whether it’s our first of the week or our fourth. Good kai, good people, a good spot by the water. Ten years in, we still love this bit.

There’s a particular kind of morning you only get on the Coromandel in September - mist still sitting over the water, the first proper patch of sun, everything just starting to wake up again.

It’s our favourite backdrop for a season of events. Ten years in, and that view still gets us every time we’re setting up a table at sunrise.

A full month of celebrations starts now. Here’s to it. 🌅

If you have an event coming up this year, next year or the following, drop us a line - we’d love to hear from you!

Say hi to Bertha. 🚚

Bertha’s our food truck, part of the Sugarfish crew and an honorary member of the team come event season. She turns up wherever the good times are happening on the Coromandel this month, dishing out the same food we’re known for, just with a bit more personality parked out front.

Keep an eye out for her this September - she gets around.

What’s actually in season this September? Glad you asked. 🌱

Spring on the Coromandel means asparagus, spring greens, broad beans, rhubarb, and the last of the citrus before it disappears for the year, and it’s exactly why our September menus look different to our January ones.

We don’t run one set menu year-round. We build around what’s good right now, which means better flavour on your table and produce that hasn’t travelled halfway round the country to get there.

Got a menu you’re dreaming up for an event this season? Let’s talk about what’s fresh.

If you have an event coming up this year, next year or the following, drop us a line - we’d love to hear from you!

September’s here, and so is Sugarfish’s season. 🌊

This month we’ve got a full run of events across the Coromandel: weddings, birthdays, long lunches, the lot. Chillers packed, menus dialled in, the crew fizzing to get back out there.

There’s something about the first full month back that never gets old - that mix of pre-season nerves and pure excitement. We love this bit.

If you’re one of the events on our books this September, we cannot wait to feed you. 🐟

Ten years, one philosophy: good food, no stress.

We know Coromandel events inside and out… the venues, the logistics, the weather curveballs, all of it. Amy and the team have been doing this long enough to make it look easy, because that’s the whole point: you shouldn’t be worrying about catering on your own event day.

Fun, reliable and properly good food. That’s what you get with Sugarfish.

Planning something down the track? We’d love to hear about it. 🐟

A bit of insight into how this actually works: most people don’t book us a season out, they book us about two years out.

This spring/summer’s already locked in… roughly three events a week, right through the season. So if you’ve got something on the horizon, whenever that is, the earlier you get in touch the better.

Send us a message and let’s talk about your event. Early’s always easier than we-wish-you’d-called-sooner.

What actually happens between “yes, let’s book you” and your event day?

A lot, honestly and none of it should be your problem. Menu planning, dietary requirements, logistics, timing with your other suppliers, early mornings before an event’s even started. We handle it so it looks effortless on the day.

Ten years of doing this means we’ve mostly seen it all, which is exactly what you want from the people feeding your guests.

Sand between your toes, good food on the table… that’s the brief.

There’s a reason people choose the Coromandel for their big day: it’s relaxed, it’s beautiful, and nobody’s stressed about being somewhere else. We build our whole service around that feeling - no stiff, formal catering energy here. Just great food, an easy crew, and a table everyone wants to linger at.

That’s the Sugarfish vibe. Not complicated, we just do it properly.
